THE BEGINNING - Well, letÆs start at the beginning. Craps or at least games of dice date back to prehistoric times. Dice have been found in the ancient pyramids of Egypt and in excavations in England. The game of Craps that we play today is a variation of an 18th Century game called Hazard. Street Craps was popular throughout the mid 50Æs and is essentially the same game as we find at casinos today. We will have a fictitious player named Maxine that will be our player.
If you approach a Crap table always look to see where the dice are. If the dice are in the middle of the table in front of the stick man, thatÆs where all of your transactions should be made. Remember, the most important thing to look for is the minimum bet card. This will tell you the minimum bet allowed at that particular table. Our table is a $2 table with a maximum bet of $500. Believe me, you donÆt want to walk up to a $25 minimum table and try to make a $2 bet. HereÆs something else very important to remember. Cash will play on a Craps table. Maxine has her money ready and if she lays it on the table, it could play with the next roll of dice. You must ask for change from the dealer saying "change only please". Remember, always place your money on the layout because the dealer is not allowed to take the money from your hand or put chips directly into your hand. Once you have your change, you are ready to play.
